Welcome to the Curriculum and Instruction Department

Curriculum and Instruction Mission - "Whatever it Takes"
The Poteet ISD Curriculum and Instruction Department is committed to aligning the written, taught, and tested curriculum to provide our students with the academic skills
and learning experiences needed for high achievement. It is the aim of Poteet ISD to provide the best possible preparation for our students' college education or future employment.

The curriculum of the Poteet ISD is designed using a framework of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Poteet ISD has worked to develop a curriculum to help every child reach his or her highest potential and to maximize the learning experiences of every student in our district. Student expectations are articulated in the form of learning objectives and lesson plans, which are sequenced by nine weeks to pace instruction.

Poteet ISD teachers access their learning objectives and resources through an online curriculum system, C-Scope.  Poteet ISD is one of 10 school districts in region 20 that was chosen to pilot C-Scope. Additionally, several major curriculum initiatives are  currently in place to help Poteet ISD reach our articulated goal of becoming a TEA Recognized District. These initiatives include:

  • Texas Literacy Resources
    • PK-12 Reading/ELA tiered instructional program
  • Region 20 Math Collaborative
    • PK-5 student-centered, problem based program
  • TAKS Across Texas
    • 6-12 computer based, math enrichment program
  • Region 20 Science Frameworks
    • 5 - 12 best practices staff development program

Please feel free to contact any Curriculum and Instructional staff member if you have any questions or concerns.
